Post-natal Classes

The emphasis is on fun, education and sharing a wonderful experience. Our classes have a maximum of eight women and are taken by one of the Physio for All physiotherapists.

How can you enrol ?

Please call the Battersea Practice or Chelsea Practice to check if places are available and for enrollment details.

When can you start?

Post-natal classes can be started from 3 weeks for a vaginal delivery and 6 weeks for a caesarian. You are welcome to bring your baby to the class as someone will be available to help look after them.

What is involved?

The classes are exercise based and focus on the following areas:

  • Pelvic floor strengthening
  • Exercises to improve stability around the pelvis and spine
  • Lower abdominal and gluteal (bottom) strengthening
  • Advice on back care and posture for feeding and lifting
  • Stretches for backs arms and legs
  • Advice on when to start other forms of exercise

What to wear?

Comfortable clothing, track suit bottoms or leggings and socks. The class is done without shoes on and you may wish to take a towel to lie on. We also advise you to bring a bottle of water.

Charges
We ask you to pay for 5 or 10 classes in advance. You then decide as you go along which classes you would like to attend on a weekly basis to suit you. We ask that you give 24 hours notice if you are unable to come to a class which you have booked to allow someone else to take your place otherwise we will charge you the cost of that session. Please see the Battersea Practice or Chelsea Practice for charges
